Torchlight Parade Welcomes Ramadan on Panggang Island Tonight

The Panggang Island Urban Village together with the An-Nimah Mosque Islamic Youth Association (Prisma) is about to hold a torchlight parade to welcome the holy month Ramadan 1444 Hijri.

Torchlight parade is a routine activity

It is slated to be held on Tuesday (3/21) at 7 PM.

Panggang Island Island Urban Village Head, Muhammad Fakih Burhanuddin said the torchlight parade will involve thousands of people by circling the island while carrying a torch.

"Torchlight parade is a routine activity and has been a tradition from year to year, originally from our former parents," he expressed, Tuesday (3/21).

He hoped that it could be followed by young people on Panggang Island so they would understand more about the meaning of the torchlight parade, which is held once a year.

"Activities like this can create friendship and motivation among residents in maintaining the cohesiveness and harmony of the people," he expressed.

Panggang Island Prisma Chairman, Abdul Kahar explained his party has prepared this activity since last week with a fun concept.

It is deemed not only a means of culture, but also a symbol of Islam. It means that if young people care about religion, it is believed that they will become the hope of the nation.

"Hope tonight's activity goes well. We also thank the Panggang Island Urban Village Head who has continued to support our activities," he stated.
